Saving Home
49
I just viewed this movie called HOME by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
Needless to say it made any concerns I may have had about searching through dozens of quotes from mortgage companies to renew my home loan, looking into investment opportunities in the booming gold and silver markets, polishing up my work from home blogging to assist the progress of my Green Building Business or even thinking about holiday vacations to Paris or a coastal Beach front resort, all seem pretty darn minuscule... especially if there is any truth to what this movie is presenting.
After reading several pages of quotes and comments about the movie, all posted by fellow humans, fellow home loan applicants, aspiring work from home artists, witnesses to life's ups and downs, believers and non believers alike - it seemed pretty clear that there are no less than two distinct camps on whether there is a real and imminent danger/opportunity to our civilization or not.
For most of the ones believing in the warning being heeded by the creators of this Movie "HOME" - IT BEHOOVES US TO ACT NOW! WE MUST REVERSE THE PROCESS OF PLANETARY SELF DESTRUCTION. AND WE MUST DO IT NOW!!! We must "green" our planet. There is no more time to be pessimists. We can start right now - if nothing else than by seeing things differently and just making the commitment to continue to study and learn about all the MANY ways we can do.. There is virtually NOTHING we can do in the greening process that will not help the cause... and when we do - I am told over and over by the many who already not even more than ankle deep involved yet, the extraordinary and contagious feeling that one can get from it and how it will turn naturally into even MORE.
On the other hand - we could just ignore and even make fun of this film. Like many have. We can believe that everything is actually really OK. We just keep on doing what we're doing, paying off student loans, buying whatever we think we need, looking for the next Microsoft stock market investment, driving our cars to the corner store one block away, taking long hot showers, using up resources without much thought, worry or concern - because Mother Earth is just fine and plentiful. She will continue to adjust and provide. She will not fail us. It is our human right! All we might have to do is make a few minor adjustments along the way. Our future is as good as GOLD. Everything will be just fine.
It's too late to be a pessimist.
The film states that the fact is 80% of the world's resources are being used by 20% of the population. Humanity is spending 12 times more on military endeavors than they are on human aid. 5000 people die each year from drinking contaminated water and 1 BILLION people have little or no access to any fresh water. 50% of the world's wealth is in the hands of just 2% of our brothers and sisters. 1 Billion people are suffering from hunger... Is this acceptable?
These are just a few of the facts shared in HOME. There are more.
What's it going to take?
Harmony must be the rule.
Here is the link to the film: http://www.youtube.com/homeproject
View it yourself. It is a full length movie. (90+ minutes). But It's FREE. If you have children, care for any children, or even personally know any children - i would say that you must watch this... What are we leaving them to have to deal with?
One of my favorite quotes is from a fantastic spiritual/motivational speaker Wayne Dyer. He says: “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
View this movie. IT COULD VERY WELL CHANGE OUR "HOME" FOREVER.
Share what you think... the clock is ticking whether we believe everything in this film or not.
It's too late to be a pessimist.
Cheers,
Martial

There is much that is wrong in the world like the things you mentioned...and once more people become involved in helping one another and conserving in ways that were taken for granted years ago but have been forgotten along the way...things will begin to change for the better.

It is interesting to preach and teach and to speculate and wonder in such an intelligent manner, but if YOU did nothing to change YOUR lifestyle this post really is just another one of those people trying to sound good but really saying nothing at all. So how was your trip to Paris and the coast? How is your big house, swimming pool, chemlawn, and big car? How's your investment in gold and your student loans and remortgaging coming along? When is the last time you had a chance to make peace and didn't. How much fast or processed food did you eat this year? Hope your green business is a big success. And Cheers to you.
